🪪 How to pay the marchamo in Costa Rica step by step

The marchamo is collected from November 1 to December 31. Paying it is quick if you have your plate number handy. Here are the easiest ways, step by step.

Have your plate number ready
You only need the vehicle plate. No ID or account required.

Go to the INS portal
Open the INS marchamo section and enter your plate to see your vehicle's exact amount.

Review the breakdown
You'll see the property tax, mandatory insurance (SOA), stamps and any pending fines.

Pay by card or through your bank
Pay online by card, or from your bank app searching 'marchamo' with your plate. Also at banks and authorized shops.

Save the receipt
Once paid you can drive. You don't need to print anything, but keep the receipt just in case.
